General Overview

What is Velveto?

Velveto is a B2B marketplace dedicated to luxury and premium professionals. It allows professional sellers and buyers to connect in order to buy and sell luxury products within a secure and confidential environment.

Is Velveto a seller or a buyer?

Velveto acts exclusively as a platform operator and technical service provider. It is neither a seller, nor a buyer, nor the owner of the products. Sales are concluded directly between sellers and buyers.

Who is the Velveto marketplace intended for?

The platform is strictly reserved for professionals (B2B): boutiques, concept stores, distributors, personal shoppers, concierges, and other professionals in the sector.

Is registration on Velveto free?

Yes. Access to the platform and account creation are free, with no obligation to buy or sell.


Accounts, Access and Compliance

What information is required to create an account?

Registration requires company information (company name, SIRET or equivalent, intra-community VAT number), the identity of the company representative, as well as contact and billing details.

Is there an account verification process (KYC)?

Yes. Access to the marketplace is subject to an identity and compliance verification process (KYC), notably through the payment provider.

Who is responsible for the account within a company?

The first registered user is designated as the Administrator. They manage access, internal users, and the governance of the account.


Products, Sales Rules and Compliance

What products can be sold on Velveto?

New products and products originating from the parallel luxury market are allowed, provided their authenticity is guaranteed.

Which products are strictly prohibited?

Counterfeit, non-authentic, stolen, fraudulently sourced products, “replica” items, or products without proof of origin are strictly prohibited. Second-hand or previously worn products are not allowed on the platform.

Must sellers provide proof of authenticity?

Yes. Sellers must be able to provide, upon first request, documents proving the origin and authenticity of the products.


Payments, Commissions and Invoicing

How do payments work on Velveto?

Payments are processed through Stripe Connect. Funds are held in escrow until the transaction is validated after the dispute period ends.

Does Velveto hold the funds?

No. Velveto never holds funds for its own account, except for applicable commissions and fees.

Are there commissions?

A commission is charged to the seller, according to a separate commercial agreement. Processing fees are also applied to the buyer.

Who issues the sales invoice?

The seller is solely responsible for issuing the invoice related to the sale. Velveto issues a separate invoice for its commissions.


Returns, Disputes and Liability

Is there a right of withdrawal?

No. As the marketplace operates strictly in a B2B environment, no right of withdrawal applies.

How are disputes handled?

Velveto acts as a facilitator for amicable resolution. It does not legally adjudicate disputes.


Catalog & Inventory Management

Inventory Connection via API

Can I connect my inventory to Velveto via API?

Yes. Velveto allows inventory connection via API for sellers using Shopify or Airtable.

Who is the API connection intended for?

Structured sellers using Shopify or Airtable. Sellers using Gaia Suite can also be connected via API.

What data can be synchronized via the API?

Depending on the configuration: product references, quantities, prices, photos, descriptions, attributes, and availability status.

Is synchronization in real time?

It can be near real-time or occur at regular intervals depending on the connection mode.

Does Velveto have unrestricted access to my internal system?

No. Access is strictly limited, secure, and controlled.


Connection via Shopify

Can I connect my Shopify store to Velveto?

Yes. Velveto allows the connection of a Shopify catalog to automatically synchronize products and inventory.

What data is retrieved from Shopify?

Depending on the configuration: products, variants, SKUs, available quantities, prices, and photos.

Can I choose which Shopify products are sent to Velveto?

Yes. The seller retains full control over which products, collections, or inventory are synchronized.


Inventory Import via CSV File

Is it possible to import my inventory via CSV?

Yes. Velveto allows inventory imports through a CSV file using a standard format.

What data can be imported via CSV?

SKU, quantities, prices, descriptions, product attributes, categories, and essential information.

Is catalog management required after import?

Yes. Management through the Velveto interface is necessary to validate, adjust, and control the imported products.

Can I modify products after import?

Yes. Products can be modified, enriched, or deactivated at any time through the interface.


Connection via Airtable

Can I connect Airtable to Velveto?

Yes. Airtable can be used as a catalog or inventory source via an API connection or structured export.

What are the use cases for Airtable?

Airtable is particularly suitable for brands or distributors wishing to centralize their catalog, inventory, or collections in a flexible tool.


Responsibilities Related to Imports and Synchronization

Who is responsible for imported data?

The seller remains solely responsible for the information, inventory, descriptions, and availability imported.

Does Velveto verify imported data?

Velveto operates under an obligation of means. It may report inconsistencies or suspend non-compliant listings.

What happens in case of non-compliance of an imported product?

Velveto may remove the listing, request supporting documents, or suspend the account.

Do imported product data grant rights to Velveto?

The seller grants only a usage license necessary for the operation of the marketplace.
